SNC Blog Hop Winner and a page share

Good Monday morning!  I trust you all had a great weekend.

I just wanted to start off by thanking everyone who left a lovely comment on my blog hop post.  You are all very sweet.  To be fair, I used Random. org to pick a winner for me so without further ado congratulations go out to:

ANITA!!!!  Congratulations!!  I have your address already so I will send you out a little something ASAP :)

These blog hops are so much fun aren't they?  Thanks again to everyone who played along.

I also wanted to share a page with you today.  I'm so excited about how this page turned out as it was a long process.

It started when I got this crazy idea in my head to spray an entire sheet of cardstock in rainbow stripes of mist.  Then I decided I wanted to use doilies and sequins on my page as well and once I got the doilies and photos where I wanted them I had no idea what to do with the sequins.

I knew I wanted a big title and I couldn't find any Thickers that worked for me so I found a font that I liked online, printed my title out on regular printer paper and then traced it onto my page.  Then I went over it with my black Zig pen to make it pop.  Then I went back to deciding where to put the sequins.

And I stared at the page for three nights, moving the sequins around, changing the colours, taking some off, putting more on, etc., etc., etc.  On the fourth night, Hubs came downstairs and asked me what I was doing.  And I told him.  Then he reached over, moved a bunch of sequins around and said "How does this look?"  I swear I heard an angels chorus of "Hallelujah" for just a moment before I stared at him in disbelief and said "Are you freaking kidding me?!"  The way he placed them, exactly like you see them in the LO above, was perfect and he managed to do it all in 20 seconds while I struggled for three days!  Men!!

Hope everyone has a great day.

SNC Spring Blog Hop

Hi everyone! Today some of the ladies over at Skrap n' Chat are excited to bring you our 2nd annual Blog Hop.  We're going to be sharing some fun projects with a Spring theme and we've got some great prizes to share as well.  It's going to be tons of fun! You may have just arrived from Stacy's blog but if not, make sure to head over to Karen's blog to start things off.

Things haven't been exactly Spring-like around these parts weather wise.  We had two big storms back to back last week and the snow is up to our necks out there.  But despite the snow outside, Spring is on its way and that means Easter is coming.  Easter isn't my favourite holiday and therefore I don't really have a lot of Easter decorations so I decided I wanted to make some Easter decor for my house.  I stumbled across a great idea on Pinterest to make washi tape canvas art so I ran with it.  I started out by cutting a template out of paper and taping it down to my canvas.  Then I just started laying strips of washi tape down.

Once I had them all in place I carefully cut around the shape with my scissors.  I do not have a picture of this because I am forgetful but go slowly as to not rip the washi.  I ripped the washi in a couple of places.  So to hide that, I decided to do a liquid pearls outline around the shape.

Then I decided to get real crazy and cover the entire shape with glossy accents.

After everything dried I added some Thickers and a sparkly button to finish off the canvas and voila:

I think this would look great propped up in a little easel somewhere.  Or I might attach something to the back so I can hang it up.

I hope you enjoyed my post for today's hop.  I had a lot of fun preparing my project for today and I think it's going to look really cute in our house.

And now for the fun part.  I have a little prize to give away to one lucky blog hop participant.  All you have to do is leave me a comment here on this blog post by Friday, April 11 at midnight AST for your chance to win.

And just in case you stumbled here out of order, here is a list of the other blogs who are participating.  If you're going in order, head on over to Robyn's blog, the last stop on the hop.

April  * YOU ARE HERE*

Make sure and leave a comment on everyone's posts for more chances to win some prizes.  Have a great day!

Life. Paper. Scrapbook. Issue 5

Happy Monday.  Well as happy as it can be when you're under a winter storm watch and you're on your second day of continuous freezing rain with no end in sight.

Just popping in very quickly to let you know the newest issue of Life. Paper. Scrapbook is out.  It's chock full of amazing inspiration as usual and I'm in the process of trying to pin a thousand LO's for future scraplifting.

You can find the issue here.

My friend and fellow SNC DT member, Karen, has a gorgeous LO on page 112 and yours truly has a LO on page 123.

Have a great day.

Future blogger

Oh my poor, sweet, neglected blog.  Life has a bad habit of getting in the way of me visiting you more often.  I apologize.

Just wanted to pop in today to share a LO I created this weekend.  I've had the picture sitting on my desk for a while and finally got around to working with it.  I wanted to create a page for the March sketch challenge over at Life. Paper. Scrapbook. so this photo fit perfectly.

Supplies:  PP - Amy Tangerine Cut & Paste for American Crafts, letter stickers - Websters Pages, misc. acetate banner, paint

Isn't that the cutest picture?  I got up from the table to go to the bathroom and when I got back she had stolen my place and was happily tapping away on the keyboard.  Monkey see, monkey do I guess.

I stepped outside my comfort zone a little here and I'm still not entirely sure I like the results but I didn't want a big white background and wanted to add some colour so I used some of my son's acrylic paint and a leftover piece of corrugated paper to "stamp" the background.  What do you think?  Yay or nay?

Thanks for stopping by today.  Enjoy what's left of your weekend :)

93 Years Young

Happy Monday morning folks.  I hope everyone had a great weekend.

Mine went by way too fast as usual but it was a good one.  I got lots done.  I picked up my new glasses, I found a great deal on a toddler bed for Miss H and I got a new tattoo!!  And it only hurt a smidge, way less than my last tat hurt and that was 12 years ago.

This is one tattoo by the way.  It's an ambigram so if you look at it one way it says Harper and the other way it says Easton.  I love it!  It's on my wrist though so typing this right now is difficult as I try to keep my arm up off the

I also paid my grandmother a visit yesterday as it's her birthday today and I knew I wouldn't be able to see her today.  She's 93 years young today and she is doing great for her age.  She still lives on her own, she's never at home as she likes to run the roads all day shopping and going out to eat and she's got less grey hair than I do.  We should all be so lucky to live such a long and happy life.

Here's a pic of her from 2012 when Miss H was almost 2 months old.  Happy Birthday Nanny!

Thanks for stopping by today.

Elf on the Shelf mini album

Good morning!  Long time no talk.

Just wanted to pop in quickly this morning to share a little project I finished up on the weekend.

If you recall, I did Elf on the Shelf for this first time with my kids this year and I knew I wanted to document that in a special way.  I took a photo every day of what our elf was doing so that equals out to 24 pictures.  I knew a mini-album would be perfect for this since that's way too many photos for a layout alone.

I started out cutting up baseball card protector sheets into strips of 2 pockets side by side and I was going to do one page for each day with the photo and then journaling next to it but I wasn't thinking straight and cut all my papers and photos so they were 3x4 size instead of the 2.5x3.5 size I needed to fit in the pockets.  Oops.  So despite the fact that I hate doing it, the pages of my album aren't in page protectors which means unless I spray them with sealer, they will probably get damaged over the years.  Oh well.

Supplies:  PP, letter stickers - Echo Park, buttons, washi tape - Recollections

The front and back covers are made out of chipboard that I cut to size and painted as well as covered with pattern paper. The adorable elf picture I got from here

I wasn't very smart when I put the album together and didn't flip the text on the back of each photo page so when you flip through the album you have to turn the book in order to read the caption.  Ooops again.

I always struggle with binding my mini albums as I never have the right size binder rings laying around and I find ribbon just doesn't cut it but this time I had a stroke of genius and raided hubby's work room and ties!  Like hello, why didn't I think of that before.  GENIUS.   You could probably even paint them or cover them with washi tape to make them match better but I'm too lazy for

Thanks for stopping by and taking a look.  Have a great day.

Couple of layouts to share

How are we already almost a week into February?  And this is such a short month too!  Before you know it March will be here..which means another year older for me.  Not sure how I feel about that yet....

I've still got a whole month to decide though so until then I wanted to share a few pages with you.

PP - Echo Park, tag - Elle's studio, letter stickers - Simple Stories, word stickers - MME, Polaroid frame - Jillibean Soup, mist - Heidi Swapp Colour Shine in Amethyst

As with E, I wanted to make sure and document all the words that H can say at this point in time.  She's a little chatterbox and since I created this LO she's picked up at least 4 more words.  I'm amazed at how fast her vocabulary is exploding so I'm glad I documented it when I did!

PP - Echo Park, word sticker - Crate Paper, letter stickers - American Crafts

This LO was done for the February sketch challenge over at Skrap n' Chat.  This is H's favourite face to make when she sees the camera and she will say "Chee!" before she makes the face which is the cutest thing ever!

PP - Echo Park, letter stickers - American Crafts, word tag - Elle's Studio, misc. tag

I don't generally do two page LO's anymore but I wanted to make sure I got lots of photos on the page for this one because Christmas was just so special this year with both kids being so excited about everything.

Journaling cards - Elle's Studio, letter stickers, & and Story cutouts - American Crafts, washi tape and sequins - Recollections

This was done for my February DT challenge over at SNC.  I decided to do a Project Life challenge this month and I challenged our members to use a confetti pocket on their PL pages or even on a traditional LO if they don't do PL.  I just love the way it looks.  I did a few of them in my December Daily album and had fun filling them with little trinkets.

I'm currently working on my Elf on the Shelf mini album right now and once I have that done I will share it with you all.  I'm off to play Angry Birds with E.
